Which is Oil Massage With Naked Bodya fact we're sure you remembered from all those high school history classes, documentaries, books, and physical representations of our relationship with France (*cough* like the Statue of Liberty *cough*).

SEE ALSO: Behold: the cringiest Trump handshake yetDonald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron gave joint remarks on Thursday, while the U.S. president was in Paris to take part in France's Bastille Day celebrations. After the remarks, the two leaders took questions from reporters, which is normal enough. But their address took a turn for the cringeworthy when Trump started to discuss America's relations with France.
"France is America's first and oldest ally," Trump said. "A lot of people don't know that."
"A lot of people don't know that"? Hhhhmmm ... that seems a bit off, considering literally everyone is taught that in high school. But ya know, who are we to say?
Then Trump continued, "Ever since General Lafayette joined the American fight for independence, our fates and fortunes have been tied unequivocally together. It was a long time ago, but we are together."
Ah, yes, the good old Marquis de Lafayette. Who could forget about him? After all, what American city doesn'thave a street named "Lafayette."
Then, he dropped some seriousknowledge ... if you didn't take a basic history class, that is.
"France helped us secure our independence, a lot of people forget," he said.
Literally who forgot??It's a fact that's hammered into our history books again and again.
Also, can we take a brief moment and talk about Macron's truly magnificent facial reactions to having Trump explain basic American history.
The internet was also amused by Trump's brief history lesson, with many people jumping on Twitter to discuss the president's comments:

History lesson aside, Trump stayed pretty on point throughout the press conference. Things didget a bit awkward once again, though, when Macron suggested an American journalist be able to ask the next question.
Spoiler alert: Trump did not pick on an American journalist. Rather, he picked on a Chinese journalist. And let's just say the response was not only swift, but sharp.
