Just months after signing a major deal with Netflix, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have announced a multi-year partnership with Spotify, specifically with their newly-formed production company Archewell Audio. It's unclear whether the name of the production company is a reference to Meghan and Harry's child, Archie.
As part of the partnership, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will host (exciting!) and produce (less exciting) podcasts that "build community through shared experience, narratives, and values," according to a press release.
In late December, Archewell Audio will team up with Spotify-owned Gimlet to release a holiday special hosted by the pair, "that will feature stories of hope and compassion from inspirational guests," which is all you're getting for now. Here's a preview:
The first complete Archewell-Spotify podcast series will launch next year, with no details at this point, and everything will be housed in the Archewell Audio hub on Spotify.

"With the challenges of 2020, there has never been a more important time to do so, because when we hear each other, and hear each other’s stories, we are reminded of how interconnected we all are."
It's a move akin to that of fellow political power couple Barack and Michelle Obama, whose production company Higher Ground partnered upwith Spotify in June 2019. Since then, TheMichelle Obama Podcast, which launched exclusively on the platform in July, has been one of the most popular podcasts on the platform. And don't forget, the Obamas alsohave a Netflix deal.
