However, he found out after a couple of weeks that the match had been moved to Oct. 15, the same day as his return flight.

A crowdfunding page was soon set up to raise funds for Mon De Leon to attend another Newcastle match, but failed to raise even 10 percent of the sum hoped for. Several commenters pointed out on the page that they didn't sympathise with him, because he seemed to have sufficient money to include a bigger tour of Europe in his trip to see his team.
According to news outlet the Chronicle Live, Kendrick left the Philippines on Sept. 22 for a tour of Europe, where he visited places like France, Italy and Spain.
The UK leg of his journey was meant to be the perfect end to his holiday, but the game was moved to Oct. 15, a Sunday, for live coverage on Sky Sports.
"I'd contacted a few Toon [Newcastle United] fans beforehand so I could get fare-value tickets, and had searched online for the fare to Southampton," he told the Chronicle Live.
"I just have to look at the positive side. At least I could purchase some legitimate Newcastle merchandise here."
And in case you're wondering, the match ended in a draw -- so there really are no winners in this story.
