The idea came after a photoshoot with photographer Paola Kudacki, who encouraged the singer to go makeup-free, the 35-year old artist explained on Lena Dunham's newsletter, Lenny Letter.
"I'd just come from the gym, had a scarf under my baseball cap, and the beautiful photographer Paola (never met a Paola I didn't like) said, 'I have to shoot you right now, like this! The music is raw and real, and these photos have to be too.'"
This mentality could also be seen in her new music video for "In Common."
It's a bold commitment for Keys, one in which takes real guts. And we applaud her for her honesty and sticking to her guns.
