When two contestants001 ArchivesThe Bachelor: Vietnam fell in love and wanted to run away from the show together last month, there wasn't really a happily ever after — one contestant returned to the show.
But maybe now, they've found it.
SEE ALSO: Gender stereotypes are still alive and well in the online dating world, study saysIn an interview with NextShark, the show's producer Anh Tran said the contestants, Minh Thu and Truc Nhu, are now a couple.
"They left the show and have been together since. We delivered on our promise that two people would find love," Tran told the publication.
In a clip that went viral, contestant Minh Thu was left without a rose from the show's Bachelor, Quoc Trung.
But before leaving for good, she decided to stun everyone by professing her love to another contestant, Truc Nhu, then convincing her to leave the show.
"Come home with me," Minh Thu told Truc Nhu. While we see them walk out in the clip, it turned out Truc Nhu returned to the show later.
Anh-Thu Nguyen, a producer for the show, who is also queer and Vietnamese-American, told the publication the moment was “awe-inspiring.”
“It’s been a proud experience to see our clip resonate around the world and become an unexpected platform for discussing LGBTQI+ issues in Vietnam on a global scale,” she said.
Vietnam abolished a ban on same-sex marriage in 2015, but the state doesn't legally recognise unions between LGBTQ couples.
