SEE ALSO: 'American Vandal' is the fake true-crime series we never knew we neededAmerican Vandal is the story of a school caught in the middle of a controversy, all documented by one of its own students. That scandal: A bunch of cars in the parking lot had drawings of penises spray painted on them. Suspect No. 1 is a kid named Dylan, known primarily for drawing penises on all sorts of things at school and generally being a dick.
If you haven't seen it yet, it doesn't exactly sound like a likely contender for a Peabody Award, but it's just so brilliantly made and hilarious. It points a lens at modern society's obsession with true crime stories and their need to know who done it, but also looks into how a scandal gaining popularity with the public affects the lives of the people who are living it.
There's no excuse anymore for not checking it out. It won a Peabody. A mockumentary about penis drawings won a Peabody.
Some of the other Peabody Award honorees include A Series of Unfortunate Events, Hasan Minhaj: Homecoming King, Insecure, Saturday Night Live, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
