The ad is a direct homage to the famous 1964 "Daisy" ad that the Lyndon B. Johnson campaign ran against GOP opponent Barry Goldwater.
So direct that the audio overlay in Grimes' video is the audio from the original "Daisy" ad, including LBJ's voice saying, “These are the stakes. To make a world in which all of God’s children can live, or to go into the dark. We must either love each other, or we must die.”
Grimes posted her video on Monday evening with the line "please don't let the world down."
She followed that up by posting another tweet, saying, "we must either love each other or we must die."
