Christmas adverts are Watch The End of the Fucking Worlda weirdly big deal in the UK. They're supposed to be nice and sentimental so as to make cold British hearts grow three sizes, and then go out and buy stuff. But this year, the supermarket chain M&S's advert has hit an unfortunate snag.

The advert features the British children's character Paddington bear. In it, Paddington mistakes a burglar for Father Christmas, and adorably goes around returning all the presents the burglar has stolen. You can watch the full thing below.

Paddington then gives the burglar a Christmas present, and the line that follows has got some people scratching their heads.

No, of course no one said "fuck you" to Paddington, what kind of monster would do that? Even if it does sound a little bit like it. The line is actually "thank you little bear," which is a lot more christmassy.

Plenty of people didn't hear the fantasy swear, and just enjoyed the little Christmas vignette.
