Watermelon has been a summertime staple for quite a while now – so why not give it a twist?Poor Things

Summer 2016's newest drink trend is officially watermelon champagne, a sweet, bubbly and refreshing kicker on a hot day.

The recipe is pretty simple. Dose recommends blending watermelon chunks into juice, and then mixing one part watermelon juice with two parts champagne.

Watermelon champagne's possibilities are endless.

Blogger Diane, A Broad suggests adding some lime juice and agave nectar to the two main ingredients – maybe that's how her creation got such a rich color.

Family Freezed, a Calgary-based gourmet ice pop company, merged watermelon and champagne for an iced treat.
